With AWS reInvent a little less than two months away, we wanted to get ahead by organizing a go-to guide to answer all your event questions. If you’re not already familiar, re:Invent is an annual learning conference hosted by Amazon Web Services for the global cloud computing community.
Consider this your formal invitation to attend and spend some time with the Sonrai Security team. Let’s kick things off with everything you need to know to ace the event.
re:Invent is taking place between November 28th and December 2nd. That’s right, the event will be a full work week long. There’s an opening reception at the Venetian the 28th.
re:Invent 2022 is taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada. There are multiple venues, so AWS offers a campus guide you can find here. The venues include Caesars Forum, Encore, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, The Venetian, and Wynn.
Both technical and non-technical participants are welcome. There are opportunities to deep-dive into technical learnings for the engineers, developers, architects, and more. Equally, marketing, customer success, sales, and more can benefit from business enablement content and networking.
A full conference pass is $1,799. If you’re sending a group of 50 or more, you can work with the event support team to get a group discount.
The following AWS executives are offering keynotes: Adam Selipsky, CEO of Amazon Web Services; Peter DeSantis, Sr. Vice President of Utility Computing; Swami Sivasubramanian, VP of Data and Machine Learning; Ruba Borno, VP of Worldwide Channels & Alliances; Dr. Werner Vogels, CTO.
Here is the agenda for the detailed list of keynotes.
If you’re coming from out of town, you’ll want to book a hotel. AWS suggests registering and booking accommodations through your attendee portal. Because the event is sprawled over multiple locations, there is free transportation like campus shuttles.
Yes, there is a virtual-only pass registration available here.
The major pull of the event is the opportunity to learn and enjoy a relatable community. Keynotes offer inspiration and lessons, but you can also expect leadership sessions for more in-depth learning and over 1,500+ technical sessions. AWS makes the event more than just work, by offering some play. There are activities like GameDays and Jams where you can learn through fun, but also dodgeball and an office chair game. The major fun event is re:Play, a party including a music headliner on the last night, Thursday. Networking happens all through the event, but AWS offers restaurant receptions where you can socialize. This is just a start, there is so much more to the event!
AWS re:Invent is a great community routed in learning and having a shared experience. The reason this community has been so successful making sure that the environment is inviting, safe, and supportive. Check out the AWS Community Codes of Conduct to get a better understanding.
If you encounter an issue or problem that runs counter to the code or if you in any way feel unsafe, please reach out for help. Amazon Security can be reached at email@example.com for live events. In addition, any one of the on-site staff or security can help resolve any issues.
As with everything, these health measures may change as we get closer to the show. AWS has updated the health measures they are taking to help reduce the overall risk to everyone attending AWS re:Invent.

In the event of a positive test being disclosed to AWS, contact tracing will be conducted in partnership with the relevant health authorities
Our team is headed to AWS re:Invent. Our theme this year is “eliminating lateral movement in your cloud.”
With Sonrai Security you can:

AWS secures its customers “behind the scenes” by widely sharing its findings and learnings, having security baked into its services from the start, and working with partners and customers to ensure they have multiple layers of defense. “We’re stronger together, I think it’s very, very true,” Amazon CSO, Stephen Schmidt, remarked during his keynote at this year’s re:Inforce event.
AWS and Sonrai Security have, in fact, proven to be stronger together. Sonrai is part of the AWS Advanced Technology Partner Network, and strives to assist AWS customers by reducing risk and embracing the cloud. Sonrai received AWS Security Competency status in Identity and Data Protection due to our integration with AWS Control Tower. With the Sonrai Dig integration, Control Tower users can quickly configure accounts to meet security and compliance requirements in addition to receiving full visibility of all identities — both person and non-person — and data stores in the cloud. Sonrai Dig delivers real-time actionable information on the security and compliance of customer workloads on AWS.
More recently, Sonrai Dig worked with AWS to sponsor a Forrester research report titled, “Identity Controls Are Central to Enterprise Plans for Cloud Security.” This survey study focused on the relationships between cloud security and identity controls and found that organizations continue to increase their usage of public clouds and the number and types of tools they use to secure their data. In fact, organizations use on average 6 tools, yet 56% say that machines and non-people identities are out of control in the cloud. For the complete findings, explore the full report.
We look forward to hearing more about the feature announcements of new AWS services and products, as well as presentations, hands-on sessions, and educational content for developers, system administrators, and DevOps professionals. See you at the Venetian in Las Vegas. You can find more information, including a schedule of events and speaker lineup, on the AWS re:Invent website.
This guide will grow as we get closer to the show. Please check back regularly for updates or ping us if something is missing @sonraisecurity. As always, the event site is the ultimate source of all activity. The site is available at https://reinvent.awsevents.com
