We are hiring a Human Resource Generalist for our rapidly growing organization. You will report to the VP of Finance and be the first dedicated human resources role; as such, this gives you growth opportunities beyond this role. This is not a static role. You will have a passion for efficiency, and continuous improvement for both policies and processes.  Your attention to detail, customer service and ability to multitask will drive you to succeed in Sonrai’s fast-paced and dynamic environment.  

Some details about what you will do:

  • Identify candidates using advertisements and LinkedIn searches, as well as recruiters where needed 
  • Screen, recruit and interview potential candidates, coordinating with hiring managers
  • Identify and apply to schools for Co-op programs; administer university Co-op or government programs
  • Responsible for end to end onboarding including offer letters, background checks, coordination with IT, and procedural training for all new employees 
  • Create, maintain and regularly audit personnel files
  • Responsible for daily/monthly HR input of all changes to payroll department
  • Ownership of all termination and offboarding activities
  • Ownership of day to day tasks such as employee status change and benefits, along with tracking annual performance reviews
  • Assist VP Finance in developing and executing HR procedures, policies and workflows
  • Implement processes, checklists and communication for growth
  • Assist in HR system implementation (eg, Bamboo HR)

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 + years of successful experience in HR generalist/ recruiting/ related roles 
  • Self-starter who works with minimal supervision and integrity while also being a strong team player
  • The ability to handle and maintain and high-level of confidentiality and sensitive information 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience showing extraordinary organizational skills, with high attention to detail and focus on accuracy and accountability
  • Experience with prioritization, multi-tasking, and problem solving
  • Knowledge of labor and employment laws
  • The right candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a natural curiosity, a positive attitude and problem solving skills
